Open Pit Dewatering, Southern Cross WA

This project involves installing and commissioning a leak detection system designed by NPE for a client located in Southern Cross, WA.

The system is installed in Fraser Pit, located on the town’s outskirts. NPE has engineered and installed the system and is responsible for selling the leak detection system to the client. The system is designed to be used in two stages. The first stage involves using two 90kw MineTuff pumps, which will pump at 210l/s initially. The second stage will use three 90kw MineTuff pumps, which will pump at 185l/s. The duration of pumping is set to take 242 days to pump a total of 3,247,591 m3 of water.

The impellers have been trimmed to suit the water’s specific gravity to ensure the pumps operate efficiently. The primary objective of this project is to ensure the reliable and efficient pumping of water while detecting and preventing any leaks that may occur in the system.
