PFAS Treatment, Nelson Bay NSW

NPE were engaged by Rockform Developments to provide a complete groundwater dewatering, water treatment & environmental monitoring solution to facilitate the construction of a 9-storey mixed use building overlaying a two-level basement car park. The water treatment system needed to successfully remove PFAS, hydrocarbons, high levels of iron, dissolved metals, and other co-contaminants from the groundwater to nondetectable/ultra-low levels to achieve compliance requirements with Port Stephen Council, WaterNSW and NSW-EPA before discharge.

Prior to equipment mobilisation and setup, NPE’s environmental & water treatment specialists conducted internal jar tests and column testing to obtain critical data for selecting, designing, and optimising the treatment train for effective and sustainable PFAS removal. NPE deployed its pumping, dewatering, power generation, groundwater treatment & environmental monitoring capability. Wellpoint dewatering was utilised to lower the water table to RL 4.4m. Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) & Mycelex’s PFAS removal technologies were employed to successfully remove PFAS to below the limit of detection. To date, at least 40megalitres of PFAS contaminated groundwater has been successfully treated. If you have any questions or require assistance with groundwater dewatering and water treatment, please do not hesitate to contact NPE. They have a team of experts ready to assist you with your needs.
